Good tips
- Regularity matters a lot: the same days and the same times reassure the person.
- First aid training is a real plus.
Watch out for
- Do not give any medical care or medication without written instructions from a health professional.
- Turn down bank powers of attorney and large gifts: this protects you too.
Rules to know
France
The person you help can declare you simply through the Cesu (companionship, shopping, help with meals, outings) and gets a tax benefit. Medical care is excluded.
Belgium
Possible as a student job, by being hired by a home help service, or with self-employed status alongside a job. Titres-services cover housework, not personal care.
